The Truth About Sub-Woofers

Can I Put My Lava Sub Anywhere?
Unlike other speaker components, sub-woofers are Omni-directional which means you can put your sub at various locations in the room and retain the same audio result. Distance is the only factor that will affect your sub-woofer placement.

Another Sub Myth
As you have researched sub-woofers, you have probably focused on the wattage of your new sub. That’s wise of course, but here’s something interesting. There is a huge difference between peak wattage and continuous wattage. We could go into a big explanation of audio formulas but it would put most people to sleep. Peak wattage for subs is essentially the maximum output of the subwoofer amplifier for a brief period of time. Continual operation at peak wattage will cause damage to the unit. Continuous wattage is the maximum output for continuous operation. Continuous wattage is a much better representation. Problem is, most manufacturers don’t tell you if they are advertising peak or continuous. We think that’s a bit unscrupulous. Lava Subs only advertises continuous wattage specs.
